HISTORY
Community Women of San Gabriel Valley (now Community Women Vital Voices) started in 1996 as a direct result of bringing women together to focus on issues that impact the communities. With a focus on Policy Policy, Arts, Health and Women – we provided Quarterly Speaker Series from who were experts on various topics.
In 1996 we held our first Breast Cancer Conference at First A.M.E. Church in Pasadena in partnership with the City of Pasadena and USC. The programs have expanded based on the community’s needs. 2013 we successfully established our 501(c )3 which is Community Women Vital Voices.
We brings together community-based health organizations, medical professionals, beauty, elected officials, and nutrition and wellness experts to educate us on major issues for women: female-related cancers, heart disease, diabetes, preventative health, fitness, business resources and a healthy lifestyle. We provide resources via our website, magazine and monthly speaker’s series.
This organization is designed to empower women to make better decisions about their businesses, health, wellness, lifestyle, family and beauty. We provide hope and encouragement for cancer and other devastating illnesses.
In providing the community with vital information we play a small role in empowering women. In 2015, we added a component to our programs for men. At the conference there will be a MAN CAVE because men’s health matters too!
We have experts who will deal with key health threats facing men such as prostate cancer, relationships, Alzheimer. We are partnering with Men of FAME, and two fraternities: Gamma Zeta Boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Pasadena Alumni Chapter.
